“Korppipäinen mies” is a theater play that addresses child abuse. I made digital sets and animated projections for the play.
This looping animation was made for the group exhibition “Baltian Tyttäret” which took place in 4.-25.11.2016 in the cultural center Caisa, Helsinki.
CAUGHT IN A MOMENT
“Caught In A Moment” is a participative community art project. It combines drawing, animation and participatory performance. The project endorses the beneficial sides of creative interaction in individuals and communities.
This project is in a constant development. The development of the artwork and combination of different artistic practices allows the participants to get accustomed with various aspects of the visual language used in different medias.
Having therapeutic features, “Caught In A Moment” has a potential to be applied to various social groups. It points out the creativity to be an important social factor enabling to cope with certain situations in life.
Participatory animated video installation-performance by Kristina Laine.
The artwork combines animated video projection and performance. The video contains slightly moving drawings that are gradually appearing and disappearing on a screen. By making this transition between images, I create the representation of symbolical states of being, the subjective documentary without a narrative. By projecting the video on the canvas, these states are combined with the moment of performance. The act of repetition, the usage of animation helps me to approach my drawings from a different perspective. By repeating and reinterpreting my drawings again and again, I create another reflection, another associative chain that contains the potential of revelation.
Multichannel video installation by Kristina Laine. The installation is built of three monitors that are arranged vertically and placed into a covered rectangle box. The three-dimensional volume of the piece creates an impression of animated sculpture, an illusion of the magical box.
THE NATURE OF CHANGE
Site-specific Sculpture by Kristina & Albert Laine.
From forests to capital cities, humans change their environment according to specific needs. Many of these changes are made with an eye to short-term financial profit. The Nature of Change was born from a tree cut down. In which an abstracted urban city is carved. Nevertheless, the tooth of time will inevitably decompose the city and the stories within it.
Originally conceived as an animated walking tour, City Canvas is a nomadic urban light performance easy adaptable to various environments. The projected animations interact with each other and city surfaces, resulting in a playful mix of characters and symbols.
By projecting only ephemeral, fleeting traces, the project makes a commentary on the illegal status of graffiti and free speech.
